Meet Gudmund Vindland at a book talk and reading from his first novel in 20 years—a powerful and courageous story about growing up, identity, and desire.

Vindland made a strong impression on many with his novel *Villskudd*, a queer classic that still holds a prominent place in Norwegian literary history. Now he’s back with *Lystseilas*—toward finer climes, his first book in 20 years.

In this coming-of-age novel, Vindland delves even deeper and takes an even more uncompromising approach. What happens to a young person seeking love and validation, but who encounters a reality marked by power imbalances and vulnerability?

The author is coming to Kristiansand directly from his life in Spain to talk about the book and the story behind it. This is a rare opportunity to experience an important voice in Norwegian literature—and an evening you won’t want to miss.

About the book *
* *Lystseilas – mot finere strøk* follows Sveinung, who grows up in a working-class family in the 1960s. When he comes to terms with his own identity, relationships break down, and he leaves for Oslo on his own. There, he finds himself in a world dominated by adult men and skewed power dynamics, all while trying to understand himself and his own sexuality.
The novel is raw, courageous, and deeply human—and offers a powerful glimpse into a time when young queer people lacked the language and support to articulate their own experiences.

About the Author
Gudmund Vindland (b. 1949) made his literary debut with *Villskudd – Sangen til Jens* in 1979. The book sold over 100,000 copies and is considered one of the most important LGBTQ+ novels in Norway. In 2023, it was selected as part of the “Left-Wing Canon” in *Klassekampen*.
