Guitarist Torbjørn Alfsen from Kristiansand and trombonist Jan Rune Pedersen from Mandal played together in several different groups in the 1980s.
One of those groups was the jazz/fusion quintet Cool Tour.
In today’s performance, they are joined by Kjetil Høyer Jonassen on keyboards, bassist Einar Wallen Mjåland, and drummer Christian Seneger.
The music presented by Cool Tour follows in the tradition of Fourplay, Lee Ritenour, the Yellowjackets, Jeff Lorber, and others.
In other words, atmospheric West Coast jazz/fusion.
Several of the band’s musicians write their own music, and some of these compositions will be performed this afternoon.
The plan is to release several of these, in addition to two songs written by Kjetil Høyer Jonassen that are already on the playlists.
