Enjoy Norway – A Travelogue

A society can change without us even noticing. A struggle can be brutal even if it takes place quietly. In 20 years, Norway became a different country.

*Nyt Norge* is a performance that explores social dumping, human trafficking, and labor-related crime in contemporary Norway. The performance asks: Which bodies are worthy of compassion? Who is granted value, protection, and dignity, and who remains expendable?

Performing artist Petter Width Kristiansen explored Norway’s involvement in the transatlantic slave trade in the 18th century with the production *Kill Devil*, which received rave reviews, ran to a completely sold-out run, and was awarded the Critics’ Prize for Best Production in 2025. This time, we delve into the hidden history of the new Norway. What happened to us? How were we changed? How did our bodies change?

Using shadow puppetry, puppet theater, documentary footage, and lectures, Nyt Norge explores modern Norway and how the boundaries of what we tolerate being done to others—and to ourselves—are constantly shifting.

The poems and text in the performance were written by Gunnar Thorenfeldt, one of the country’s leading investigative journalists, who for more than 20 years has written over a thousand articles on social dumping and human trafficking for *Dagbladet*, *Klassekampen*, and *Aftenposten*.

The future is already here. But it arrives sooner for some than for others.
