Will collaborate with Kunstsilo
A press release from Kilden Kunstilo states:
“With this partnership agreement, we aim to highlight and strengthen the role of art in society,” say Reidar Fuglestad and Harald Furre, executive directors of Sørlandets Kunstmuseum/Kunstsilo and Kilden performing arts centre, respectively
This year marks the tenth anniversary of Kilden performing arts centre to the public. The institution has become a powerhouse for cultural life in Southern Norway—a cultural scene that will be significantly strengthened when Kunstsilo opens in two years. Cross-disciplinary collaboration between the institutions is therefore seen as a natural path to take. Together, the partners aim to serve as clear, national pioneers for new ways of collaborating.
Developer
This strategic partnership is based on a shared desire to further develop the institutions’ social mission. Previously, Sørlandets Kunstmuseum and Kilden have Kilden on Palmesus Classics—a series where visual art and symphonic music have come together in delightful harmony with renowned artists.
Kilden be Southern Norway’s premier venue for the performing arts and music, and our goal is to become known for unique productions that span various art forms,” says Kilden’s CEO, Harald Furre.
– With our new neighbor, Kunstsilo, we have everything we need to both develop new forms of artistic expression and reach an even wider audience.
Digitalization
The new partnership covers areas such as digitalization, destination development, and infrastructure.
In recent years, both Kilden the Sørlandet Art Museum have invested heavily in digital transformation within their own organizations. The Art Museum has developed its own state-of-the-art digitization method for art, which offers significant opportunities for digital dissemination.Kilden systematicallyKilden on the development of new digital productions. Together, they have carried out a test production for VR (virtual reality) that combines symphonic music and visual art.
Interdisciplinary collaboration
“This is just the beginning of the exciting cross-disciplinary collaboration that this agreement highlights,” the directors say. An essential part of the new collaboration is to develop Odderøya as a destination and a place for experiences. “When Kunstsilo opens at Silokaia, we need to be able to offer the public a variety of experiences.” “One of the possibilities we are exploring is the establishment of a Nordic modernism festival aimed at artists, the public, and professionals,” says Fuglestad, who envisions attracting regional, national, and international guests.
Both parties also wish to explore better solutions for the current infrastructure. To ensure access for future visitors, options being considered include public transportation solutions, the expansion of the parking garage, a bridge from Lagmannsholmen, and transportation from Kjevik. A dedicated pier at Kristiansand Airport Kjevik has been established, where guests can take a boat from the Kjevik pier directly to Silokaia.
The cooperation agreement will take effect on January 14, 2022. ”
