17 eliver, with and without disabilities, will be on stage together with Marthe Wang and hers band. The students are from Kristiansand Cathedral School Gimle and Kvadraturen High School in Kristiansand.

And it is no ordinary act set to take the stage during the event. SPOR’s performance is scheduled to take place just before His Majesty King Harald delivers the evening’s keynote address. Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Labour Party leader Jonas Gahr Støre are also among the speakers. In addition to SPOR, Highasakite, Dagny, Åge Aleksandersen, and several other national stars will be performing.

Proud and honored

Elisabeth Lindland, the director of SPOR, is understandably very proud to have been invited:

“This is a wonderful recognition of an important project, and of course we’re all very proud right now. But most of all, we’re excited,” says Lindland, continuing:

– Not least, it is a great honor to be invited to such an important commemoration. It has been ten years since the events in the Government Quarter and on Utøya, and we believe that the values conveyed in a production like SPOR—values such as inclusion, equality, and an understanding of human diversity—are more important than ever to communicate.

Key messages

The government is hosting the memorial event. The Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for the production and has partnered with artistic director Dag Tynes and Medvind Eventbyrå to organize the event. NRK is responsible for the camera production and broadcast of the event.

The National Support Group for the 22 July Victims and the AUF have helped shape the direction of the event, including its artistic aspects. The artists were selected by the artistic director because their songs and dances convey important messages related to the commemoration, such as the desire for a generous, inclusive, and multicultural society, where solidarity, unity, commitment, and tolerance are central elements.

“Cultural Event of the Year”

SPOR is part of Kilden , Kilden’s nearly 10-year initiative focused on participatory art, inclusion, and diversity. The project has garnered widespread recognition in various professional circles and among the public, andand has been called “the most important cultural event of the year in Kristiansand.”

The performance uses art as a tool for coping, understanding, and inclusion. Around 100 high school students, with and without intellectual disabilities, share the stage with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra. The performance is built around the participants’ stories, core competencies, personalities, and functional abilities. A brand-new SPOR performance will premiere atperforming arts centre Kilden performing arts centre March 2022.
