Great experiences await with KVE in 2024

The coming weeks will kick off a varied and exciting season for Marit Tøndel Bodsberg Weyde and Kilden (KVE). First up are the Fædrelandsvennen Request Concert and “Mighty Choral Works.”

“This will be the third year in a row that we’re participating in Fædrelandsvennen’s Request Concert together with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (KSO). Attendance at these concerts has been excellent, and it’s always a special thrill to sing for such a large audience. So there are many people looking forward to March 14, says Marit Tøndel Bodsberg Weyde, artistic director and chief conductor of KVE.

– A great experience awaits

There is also likely to be a large turnout the following week for the concert *Mighty Choral Works*. Here, the KSO and KVE will perform works by Brahms and Lars-Erik Larsson, featuring soloists Ann Helen Moen (soprano) and Magnus Ingemund Kjelstad (baritone), as well as Henrik Rafaelsen as narrator.

“I hope *Mighty Choral Works* will live up to its title. The program has been carefully curated, and I think those planning to attend the concert on March 21 are in for a real treat,” she says.

Choir members from 30 choirs

As summer approaches, KVE will play a central role in the concert at the National Choir Festival, which will be held in Kristiansand from May 30 to June 2. During parts of the concert, singers from 30 different choirs will take the stage, and KVE will also perform separate pieces together with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra.

– The Choral Festival will be a major event, and I think it’s both exciting and important that KVE is participating in it. As the only professional choir in Southern Norway, it’s important that we also work on recruitment and building expertise in choral singing in general. The Choral Festival will offer many exciting encounters, and the concert in Konsertsalen Kilden a highlight, believes Bodsberg Weyde.

For KVE, the fall season will feature appearances at some unusually large concerts, as well as the world premiere of new music and a Christmas concert in December. This program will be released in April when KSO’s 2024–25 season is launched.

“There’s no doubt that this will be a busy year for the choir,” says Marit Tøndel Bodsberg Weyde, who this fall will conclude her sixth season as artistic director and chief conductor of KVE.
