Chief conductor Julian Rachlin leads the KSO in this magnificent season finale. The soloist is Swedish clarinet virtuoso Martin Fröst in Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, which was written shortly before his death. It has been described as one of the most elegant solo works for wind instruments in the classical repertoire, with melodic genius and depth as key characteristics.
Gustav Mahler's 5th Symphony is one of his most beloved. It opens with a trumpet solo, develops into a poignant march of mourning via the famous adagio, known from the movie "Death in Venice", and culminates in a triumphant finale.
Conductor: Julian Rachlin
