Principal Conductor Julian Rachlin leads the KSO in this magnificent season finale. The soloist is Swedish clarinet virtuoso Martin Fröst, who will perform Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, composed shortly before the composer’s death. It is described as one of the most elegant solo works for wind instruments in the classical repertoire, characterized by melodic genius and depth.
Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 is one of his most beloved works. It opens with a trumpet solo, develops into a poignant funeral march via the famous Adagietto—known, among other things, from the film *Death in Venice*—and culminates in a triumphant finale.
