This concert evening takes us on a journey through the musical landscape of the early 20th century—from the playful and exuberant to the deeply expressive. First up is Czech composer Josef Suk’s sparkling “Scherzo fantastique,” followed by soloist Anna Geniushenes’ interpretation of Maurice Ravel’s rhythmic and jazz-inspired piano concerto.
After the intermission, the program features “Chorale Prelude,” Bach’s “Wake Up,” arranged by Granville Bantock, before the evening concludes with the magnificent symphonic power of Paul Hindemith’s symphony “Mathis der Maler.”
