Concert featuring one of Norway's most prolific touring folk singers
Frode Johansen is a singer and songwriter from Jessheim in the municipality of Ullensaker. He has made a living from music ever since he overslept and missed his comprehensive exam at culinary school. For 20 years, he toured as a pub troubadour in Norwegian and international pubs before making his recording debut in 2013 with the album*From Bølle to Prince*, which received widespread coverage and garnered praise in both national and local media.
In April 2025, he will release his ninth studio album, and he has long been one of Norway’s most prolific touring artists, averaging 130 concerts a year—for ten years in a row. He has also toured with Kaia Huuse, Terje Formoe, and Låtskriverne, in addition to his solo concerts.
In the new show“…med glimt i øret,”we’re treated to many new Frode songs based on his latest album, presented in his familiar style with a folksy tone and plenty of humor—always with a hint of deeper seriousness lurking beneath. The show is presented by a versatile artist who truly masters the stage format and knows how to keep his audience on the edge of their seats for an hour and a half.
We’ll be hearing lots of new songs like“Fetter’n Til LillebjørnogFuret” and“Værbitt Dette Landet,” as well as classics like“Livet Ditt Lever,”“Forsvunnet,”“Sølvgrå,” and, of course,“En Liten Kopp Lykke.”
Frode Johansen has been called many things:“The crown prince of Norwegian folk music,”“A mix of Øystein Sunde and Jo Nesbø,” and“Norway’s best songwriter.”
Frode Johansen is an artist of principle who stands firm against commercialism. He is an artist with many classics, but no chart-toppers. He is one of those who follow in the footsteps of the unsung heroes in the fight to preserve Norwegian musical traditions. He is an honest performer and a fantastic guitarist. He has a loyal following—and his own fan club.
