Jaga Jazzist and the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra invite you to a grand celebration!
For over 30 years, the legendary Jaga Jazzist has been a powerhouse in its own right on the international music scene. Since the band’s humble beginnings in Tønsberg in 1994, they have had a constant urge to explore what a large group of exceptionally talented musicians with big visions can achieve together. With playful ease, the band blends various genres such as jazz, rock, post-rock, and electronica into a signature Jaga mix that gets the audience dancing and laughing.
“In connection with our 30th anniversary in 2024, we had the opportunity to compose new orchestral versions of the album Pyramid and record them in the Store Studio together with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK), and the concert was broadcast on both TV and radio. It is this material that forms the basis for tonight’s project, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to play this music again! And with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra!”
– Jaga Jazzist
With its roots firmly planted in jazz and the ensemble format, the band has continually reinvented itself across several albums. Their breakthrough came with *A Living Room Hush* in 2001, which received rave reviews both here in Norway and abroad. With a string of critically acclaimed releases on leading labels such as Ninja Tune, Smalltown Supersound, and Brainfeeder, the band has built a large fan base around the world.
The concert will first be held at Kilden, then at the Oslo Jazz Festival at Sentrum Scene the following day.
The Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra last performed at Oslo Jazz alongside Ola Kvernberg’s Steamdome in 2024, a concert that garnered widespread acclaim.
