Mezzoforte Returns to Norway – Legendary Jazz-Funk from Iceland
They paved the way for Icelandic music on the international stage, and with their energetic interplay, funky grooves, and technical brilliance, Mezzoforte has captivated audiences around the world since the early 1980s. Now they’re finally back in Norway!
Noel McCalla, known for his work with bands such as Manfred Mann’s Earth Band and his solo career, lent his soulful voice to Mezzoforte on select recordings such as “This Is The Night,” and contributed to Mezzoforte’s fusion style with his lyrics. This is the only stop in Norway on this tour where Noel will perform with Mezzoforte.
Mezzoforte broke through with the instrumental hit “Garden Party” in 1983—a song that is still played frequently and is considered one of the most iconic tracks in the jazz-funk genre. Mezzoforte became the first Icelandic band to achieve major international success, and their unique blend of jazz, funk, and fusion has left a distinct mark on music history.
