The year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of cultural giant Erik Bye. In addition to his unique position in Norwegian social and cultural life, through his work as a beloved radio and television producer over several decades, he was also one of our greatest poets. Songs such as “Vårherres klinkekule,” “Vår beste dag,” and “Blå salme” have become part of the national heritage.
His granddaughter, Marianne Bye Granheim, is one of our foremost and most versatile young singers, with a repertoire ranging from oratorios to folk songs. Together with two musicians and composers with whom Erik Bye has collaborated closely over the years—Henning Sommerro and Sigmund Groven—she presents her grandfather’s treasure trove of folk songs.
