and Tore Bråthen Celebrate 30 Years We are celebrating Tore Bråthen’s 30th anniversary as musical director of . Since 1996, his dedication and tireless efforts have lifted the big band to ever-new heights. The anniversary marks not only an impressive milestone, but also a journey that has left a deep mark. Strong musical bonds of friendship have been forged, and many members have used their time in the band as a springboard for further musical careers. At the same time, audiences have been treated to a wide range of concerts that have thrilled a loyal following.

Tore is a central figure in the Southern Norway jazz scene, both as a conductor, trumpeter, bandleader, composer, and arranger—and not least through his work as a teacher at the Department of Rhythmic Music at UiA. In addition to serving as musical director of the Kristiansand Big Band, he currently leads the Arendal Big Band, and for 29 years he has led the Southern Norway Youth Big Band. He is a sought-after guest conductor for big bands across the country.
In 2023, Tore released his own compositions on the solo album Retninger.

The anniversary will be celebrated with a grand concert featuring Tore at the center, both as conductor and soloist. Several of the band’s former members, who are now established musicians, have also been invited. With Multisalen Kilden an intimate concert venue, we promise a varied and swinging festive performance with Tore Bråthen in the spotlight.
