We are celebrating Tore Bråthen’s 30th anniversary as musical director of the Christianssand Big Band. Since 1996, his dedication and tireless efforts have taken the big band to ever-new heights. This anniversary marks not only an impressive milestone, but also a journey that has left a lasting impact. Strong bonds of friendship through music have been forged, and many members have used their time in the band as a springboard for further musical careers. At the same time, audiences have been treated to a wide range of concerts that have thrilled a loyal following.
Tore is a key figure in the Southern Norway jazz scene—as a conductor, trumpeter, bandleader, composer, arranger, and, not least, through his work as a teacher at the Department of Rhythmic Music at the University of Agder (UiA). In addition to serving as musical director of the Kristiansand Big Band, he currently leads the Arendal Big Band and has led the Southern Norway Youth Big Band for 29 years. He is a sought-after guest conductor for other big bands throughout the country.
In 2023, Tore released his own compositions on his solo album *Retninger*.
The anniversary will be celebrated with a spectacular big band concert featuring Tore as both conductor and soloist. But the celebration wouldn't be complete without guests, and joining us tonight are:
Aase Helene Røinaas Aabel – Vocals
Fredrik Sahlander – Bass
Oscar Jansen – Piano
Trygve Rypestøl - Saxophone
With the intimate “ Multisalen ” at Kilden serving as the concert venue, we promise a varied and swinging festive show with Tore Bråthen in the spotlight.
